As part of our Annual Ceremonial Review and rewards, we allow cadets to nominate any cadets and staff in the squadron for what we call the Spirit award.
Here's the story of how it originated and what it means to the squadron.
A common question from one of our past Administration Officers was “are you having fun?” Lieutenant Brian Gibbons was a retired Regular Force Warrant Officer who joined the cadet movement after retiring from a long career in the Canadian Forces. He brought a level of experience, enthusiasm and leadership to the squadron that touched cadets, staff, and parents alike. In memory of Lieutenant Gibbons, we had created this award to recognize the same enthusiasm and love of the program that he brought with him almost every day.
